Since the 2018–2019 academic year, the FMV Işık High School Musical Theatre Ensemble has achieved great success and proudly continues its tradition. This year, the ensemble brought one of Turkish theatre’s unforgettable plays to the stage: “Gözlerimi kaparım vazifemi yaparım” by Haldun Taner. Written in 1964, this two-act play spans the period from the days of the Ottoman Empire to the late 1960s, portraying the social changes in modern Turkish history through the life stories of two main characters: Vicdani and Efruz. The play skillfully reflects on the individual's stance in society, changing values, and the questioning of ideals. The premiere of our play was held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at 7:00 PM in the Muvaffak Benderli Conference Hall at FMV Işık High School. A second performance was staged for the school community on Thursday, June 12, 2025. We look forward to meeting again on many more performances.
